Congratulations to St. Mark's High School, as the Spartans defeated Newark High School on Friday Night as part of the 1290 The Ticket HS Football Game of the Week. With the victory, the #3 Spartans tied Middletown for the most wins in 1290 The Ticket history (10) and Edward Mendez was named CROWN TROPHY Player of the Game! Saint Mark's will be featured again on 1290 The Ticket against rivals St. Elizabeth and Salesianum in the following weeks.
Congratulations to Darnell Savage for leading the #2 ranked Caravel Buccaneers over the #6 St. Elizabeth Vikings on Friday, September 28th. Savage rushed for over 100 yards on just three carries, scored two touchdowns on offense and intercepted a pass on defense.
Savage became just the 5th sophomore in the 6 season history of the Crown Trophy Player of the Game Award to win the award!
With the victory, Caravel catapulted Hodgson to the #1 spot in the newest DIFCA Coaches Poll.

Congratulations to Middletown's Darius Wade for being named the 1290 The Ticket Crown Trophy Player of the Game for his performance on Friday, leading #1 Middletown over Glasgow 49-0. The Junior QB threw for 211 yards and 3 TDs and ran for another score as the Cavaliers tied a 1290 The Ticket record for most wins in "Friday Night Game of the Week" history with the school's 9th overall.
The Cavs also tied their own record (two other games) for largest margin of victory during a Game of the Week broadcast. The lefty QB became just the sixth player in 1290 The Ticket history to win a Player of the Game Award in multiple seasons, having won once last season as a Sophomore. Wade and the Cavs will take on Concord this Friday as the 1290 The Ticket Game of the Week!
