No. 4 Caravel faces Div. I foe Glasgow in Homecoming Battle
The Week 7 broadcast of the high school football regular season on 1290 The Ticket features a nonconference matchup between the No. 4 Caravel Academy Buccaneers and crosstown Div. I rival Glasgow Dragons.
Caravel (4-2) is coming off a three-game winning streak as the Bucs celebrate homecoming at Bob Peoples Stadium. Two of those wins were by just a point as Caravel has been forced to regroup after losing star running back Darnell Savage to a season-ending leg injury in Week 2. Caravel’s Wing-T offense is led by quarterback Derrick Groomes, who has a plethora of capable running backs to hand the ball off to, led by Aaron Hudson, Jake Shriner, Dennis Robinson and Dexter Marchan.
The Glasgow defense will have its hands full with a Caravel offense that exploded for 35 points against St. Elizabeth last week. But eighth-year Glasgow coach Shannon Riley said before the season that this was his best team ever and the defense is the strength of that team. Anchoring it will be nine returning starters led by safeties Marquis Cannon and Michael Helton, linebackers Loyal Ricks and Kwasi Amponsah, and linemen Raymond Mangold and Dominique Drewery.
The Glasgow Medical Aid Unit Pregame Show begins at 6:30 followed by kickoff at 7. Tune in to 1290 The Ticket orwww.1290TheTicket.com.
